Fire of God's Love transcriptions
Fire of God’s Love is a 1973 album by Sister Irene O’Connor, primarily known for the title track Fire (Luke 12:49). Additional praise must be heaped upon Sister Marimil Lobregat, who is responsible for the audio engineering and thus the wavering, eerie quality present in Fire and the rest of the album.
I noticed an uptick in people downloading Fire of God’s Love from me on Soulseek, so I decided to relisten to the album… Then decided to make transcriptions of the lyrics where there were none.
A few notes regarding my transcriptions:
#4 Mass — ‘Emmanuel’ is a Mass song, and thus is based on the Roman Missal. I was able to use a Mass outline to search for and fill in some of the less clear bits.
In the tracklist, Mass has an interesting credit: Text: I.C.E.L.
ICEL turns out to be the International Committee on English in the Liturgy Inc., who are responsible for the 1970 New English translation of the Roman Missal. The translation became official in 1973.
#5 Messe du Saint Esprit and #12 Keshukaran are not in English.
Messe du Saint Esprit is predictably in French and so there are some gaps in my transcription where I couldn’t understand it.
Keshukaran is in Bahasa Melayu, aka Malay. O’Connor wrote the song with help.1 I couldn’t transcribe it, but found a pre-existing transcription by Sunita Philips.
After finishing the transcriptions and cleaning up metadata, I also decided to reupload the album:
